Introduction

Everything which has a beginning has an ending. At the beginning, the world was created and it has its end as the prophets had confirmed. Many Christians believe that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is near with judgment according to the deeds of mankind. This paper addresses the Christian hope and the eternal life as they wait for the second advent of Christ.

Eschatology

According to Clawson. (2001), eschatology is the Christian theology that deals with the biblical study of end time and the last day events. Some Christians profess of rapture at the end of time as others believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ. John saw all the events of end times in his revelation and it is clearly recorded in the book of revelation. Daniel the prophet also predicted the second coming. The area of eschatology has been challenging for many people as others avoid the messages from this two great prophets i.e. Daniel and John.  Many prophets had foreseen this event of the second coming many thousands years back as The Holy Bible (1997) in the book of 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 (four) and verses 16-17 states that, “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the Archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the death in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still arrive and are left will be caught together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever”. This is the sole hope of any Christian who is with faith believing in these words as the Bible confirms and portrays a picture of what will happen during the day Jesus is coming for the second time. Therefore, the Christian hope is based in the future and the present occurrences like temptations and all sorts of suffering are simply preparing many people to face the future.

This Christian hope which is focusing in the future whereby the true saints will share with Jesus on one table empowers the concept of eternal life. The righteous people will get the eternal life where there will not be death and tears. There will not be suffering as it happens in the world. When Jesus Christ ascends from heaven the unrighteous will not stand before his presence but the righteous will be taken to heaven for one thousand years and after these years the will descend with New Jerusalem, but Satan and his armies will gather to fight the Lord Jesus with his saints but he be destroy with all these wicked people. The saints will like gracious with Jesus and all the heavenly Hosts. Nonetheless, currently Jesus is in the sanctuary advocating for us and begging mercies for us from our father and soon he will come out of the sanctuary. Clawson (2002) says that, “Jesus’ work as the high priest in the sanctuary is cleansing our sins.”
